About the Student
Anita is a rising junior at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. She attended Green Hope High School for 9th and 10th grade. At NCSSM, Anita plans to balance her dichotomous interests of science and linguistics. Anita has been dancing and performing all her life. She began bharatanatya classes within weeks of her move to North Carolina over six years ago. A fast and dedicated learner, it quickly grew into a passion for her; the idea of conveying universal emotions with such poise enthralls her. She has performed at Basant Bahar, Cary Diwali, IndiaFest, and Sampige Kannada Association to name a few. She hopes to continue learning under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Padma Rao for years to come. In addition to dance, Anita runs track and cross country and occasionally plays volleyball. She volunteers with such organizations as Cary Teen Council and the West Regional Public Library. In her spare time, she enjoys talking and watching movies with friends. **Anita has chosen to support the American Cancer Society for her program.
